OTTWA Sponsored Event Wrap Up | February 2021

February 2021 was a busy month for retired racehorses in WA! Highlighting the achievements of off the track horses and their riders were the Equestrian Western Australia Awards, Dressage Western Australia Awards and 19 OTTWA Sponsored Events.

This year OTTWA and EWA introduced the Off the Track Newcomer of The Year Awards with four categories and an overall winner. OTTWA congratulates;

Eventing winner Heart Show ridden by Laurelle Hayes

Jumping and Overall winner All West (Allwest) ridden by Sophie Stott

Dressage winner Tabannan (Tamblyn Park Jackpot) ridden by Shania Benbow

Show Horse winner Winza Moment (FW Balenciaga) ridden by Fiona Whife

OTTWA Official Retrainer Tyla Schou was presented with the EWA Dressage Sports Star of the Year award, as well as three additional awards at the Dressage WA Awards the following day. Off the track horses are clearly good hands with this talented rider!

A deserving winner M’Liss Henry was recognised with the EWA Special Services to the Sport Award. M’Liss is the founder and head coach of the Claremont Therapeutic Riding Centre, providing therapy, sport, recreation and training for children and adults of all abilities. M’Liss devotes her time to the centre and has worked with many off the track horses as they commence their second career. OTTWA is proud to support the team at CTRC.

Congratulations to the nominees and winners of all categories.

Superstar Jaime Hall and her thoroughbred Happy As were recognised with the Thoroughbred Achievement Award at the Dressage Western Australia Awards. This award is presented to the thoroughbred horse which achieves the highest percentage in any Participant class during the State Championships.

Thoroughbreds and standardbreds were out enjoying their second careers at OTTWA sponsored events in February 2021. OTTWA Sponsored Events include: Mortlock Pony Club Tetrathlon, Goldenmile Equestrian Club Twilight Summer Games Series, Albany Pony Club Showjump Series Event One, Hills Show Jumping Association February Event, West Plantagenet Pony Club Unofficial Dressage Day, Zamia Dressage Series Event One, Swan River Dressage Inc Virtual Training Tests, and the Kojonup Breed Show.
