Nothing In Between | Simon Trades Harness Racing for Endurance Riding

Nothing In Between by GRINFROMEARTOEAR USA entered the world in October of 2009 as a bay gelding bred by the Howie Family. Trained by Les Harding in South Australia, Nothing In Between began his pacing career in 2012. After two years in South Australia racing under Harding, Nothing In Between then moved to Western Australia in 2015 to be trained by Ross Oliveri. While in WA, Nothing In Between continued to race for several more years under the likes of Oliveri, Padberg and Goulden, before retiring in late 2018. Nothing In Between retired after 125 starts for 19 wins, 10 seconds and 19 thirds—winner of $92,066 in lifetime earnings.

Following racing, Nothing In Between—or Simon—was used as a pleasure riding horse for Libby Grigg. After two or so years with Libby, Simon was then rehomed to Lisa Gliddon after Grigg moved interstate and could not take the gelding along with her. With Lisa, Simon continues to act as a pleasure horse, whilst also venturing out on regular endurance rides. Simon competed in six endurance rides in 2023, all of which were 20 kilometers long. Lisa is aiming to complete a 40km ride in the latter half of 2024. The pair also competed in the 2024 Kulin Bush Race where they claimed fourth place.

Simon proves himself to be a fine example of the Standardbred breed, with the temperament and versatility to be a successful both on and off the track.

In 2024, Lisa hopes to establish canter transitions with Simon whilst also building fitness and training towards their first 40km ride. Overall, Lisa aims to continue onward with her endurance endeavors onboard Simon and will also seek to compete in a few breed shows.

OTTWA wish Nothing In Between and Lisa all the best for the year ahead of them.
