Over Armed | Entering into Endurance and Beyond

Over Armed is a 2015 Standardbred gelding by New Zealand stallion, Changeover NZ. Bred in Western Australia and originally trained by Kyle Anderson, Over Armed paced in 164 starts throughout his career. Later trained by Karen Wallrodt in his career, Over Armed retired in early 2024 after six career wins, 28 placings, and lifetime earnings of $64,873.

In April of 2024, Over Armed was rehomed to Paulina Brunton, who saw the gelding advertised on Facebook. Despite plenty of interest, Paulina was lucky enough to add Over Armed into her paddocks. Soon after arriving with Paulina, Over Armed was broken to saddle and the pair began their journey together.

Throughout the early stages, Paulina stuck to riding down dirt trails and tracks to expose Over Armed to ridden life without the pressure of arena riding. He appeared to like riding down the trails and so Paulina decided to enter the Jarrahdale Endurance ride that was quickly approaching. Unfortunately, the pair didn’t manage to complete the ride due to the hard ground causing a stone bruise, but this did not deter Paulina and Over Armed from trying again. The pair returned to complete their first endurance ride in Merredin over 20kms, earning themselves their first off the track ribbon. They hope to enter a 40km ride eventually, with future goals to enter the 2027 Quilty Endurance ride.

OTTWA wish Paulina and Over Armed the best for their future together and hope they continue their endurance pursuits!
