Yourtheoneforme + He’s Listed | Off the Track Story
Donna Graham is a clerk of the course working race days alongside her best friends: Jimmy and Odie.
Yourtheoneforme (Jimmy) is a ten-year-old gelding by Galah who retired from racing in 2022. After 44 starts, three wins, and over $65,000 in earnings, Jimmy was ready to take his career in a new direction.
He didn’t stray far, returning to the track with Donna for Belmont Trials, where he practiced leading horses and adjusted to new responsibilities.
“Jimmy is still a work in progress, but he’s a great work colleague,” says Donna, who has owned the gelding since his retirement from racing with Carey Martin.
Jimmy is described as a cheeky fellow who enjoys his own company at home and likes to play the ‘catch me if you can’ game whenever a halter is brought into his paddock. Donna looks forward to enjoying more time with Jimmy outside of work, at the beach in summer and on quiet trail rides.
Jimmy joins Donna’s clerking team alongside He’s Listed (Odie). Odie is a 15-year-old Heritage gelding who had only eight racing starts. Trained by Steve Wolfe for one career win, he retired in 2014 and jumped straight into his new off the track lifestyle.
With Donna, Odie has attended clinics, adult rider and lower-level events, and has learned to become a supportive clerk for active racing horses.
“We would attend Monday trials at Belmont as part of their training. Putting a Thoroughbred back into the discipline they retired from can be difficult for them mentally. Physically, they must learn to balance themselves while another horse pushes them around.”
“Odie has achieved all that is required of him by being my work colleague.”
Odie and Jimmy are testaments to trainability and temperament.
Returning to the track, they enjoy the thrill of race day, helping to ensure horses are settled before their race and return home to their stalls safely afterwards.
