Wooroloo International Three-Day Event

Despite the miserable winter weather, Wooroloo International Three-Day event was a great success for many retired racehorses competing. With 92 thoroughbreds entered, the competition amongst the off-the-track riders was hotly contested, with many of the star classes seeing retired racehorses place in the top three.

With three off the track exclusive classes, we were proud to support these horses in their competitive careers away from the racetrack.

In the smallest off-the-track class, twelve retired racehorses competed in the OTT65cm. Won by Shintashi and Dani Carey, this class was a tight squeeze for first with only 0.3 penalties between first and second. Second was secured by Reduction and Bev Ingham, followed by Bulletson and Ellie Ashpar in third.

Moving up a level, the OTT80cm class saw Riley Lyall and new off the track mount, On the Scent placing in first with a sub-30 score to finish on their dressage score. Vital Champagne and Dani Renton followed behind Riley for second place, with Nobel Laurence and Sarah Dawson finishing in third. Both Riley and Sarah are four-star riders producing these retired racehorses up the levels.

The final off-the-track class was the OTT95cm, won by young rider Lana Scully and her thoroughbred gelding, What’s Up Snip. Bianca Gales and Tsubame placed in second place with Hayley Smythe and Belle Maschine following in third after clear show jumping and cross-country rounds.

In the star classes, we sponsored the highest placing retired racehorses as the Best Performed OTT.

With classes from one star to four star, short and long, these awards were won by the following horses and their riders:

  • Our Congrats and Scarlett Currey – winners of the Best Performed OTT in the CCN1*-L Junior (placing second place)
  • Phoenix Quill and Ashleigh Williams – Best Performed OTT in the CCN1*-L (placing third)
  • Order is Restored and Riley Lyall – Best Performed OTT in the CCI2*-S (placing third)
  • Conrad’s Mission and Jaime Hall – Best Performed OTT in the CCI2*-L (placing first)
  • Duke Star and Mathilda Hathway – Best Performed OTT in the CCI3*-L (placing first)
  • Out of Line and Riley Lyall – Best Performed OTT in the CCI4*-S (placing second)
  • SunSupernatural and Sarah Dawson – Best Performed OTT in the CCI4*-L (placing first)

Congratulations to these horses and their riders. The four-star classes were predominately off the track, with the long form consisting of two very competitive retired racehorses competing against one another. While Sunsupernatural came out on top, Lost East Estees (the Diamond Thief) was not far behind with 0.3 penalties between first and second. This just shows how well retired racehorses are doing in the eventing discipline.

We look forward to sponsoring Wooroloo International Three-Day Event again in 2026.
