Unnamed | Nothing can stop Jethro

Although bred with the intention to race, Jethro never made it far into the pacing or harness lifestyle. Purchased direct from trainer, Brad Lynn as an unbroken Standardbred gelding, Tori Gladwell was prepared to take on the challenge of finding Jethro a job he enjoys.

Having owned several Standardbred previously, Tori was keen to take on Jethro as her first horse to break to saddle. Tori described Jethro as very forgiving throughout the process as they both learnt together.

“He was always so kind, so eager, and so open to try everything I asked.”

Jethro and Tori have made great leaps and bounds in their training, with the big loveable Standardbred coming along well in his canter progress.

“His openness to learning new things and ability to grasp new concepts is astounding. Even though I am not the greatest rider, he still learns something new every day and will always give something a try.”

In 2025, Jethro stepped out at the 2025 SPPHAWA Dual Code Spectacular with Tori and excelled, heading into the champion lineup amongst some quality show Standardbreds. While he did not ultimately secure the Champion title, he was certainly a champion in Tori’s eyes for how he handled the experience and his willingness to please.

“He just kept saying ‘yes’ to everything I asked with unwavering dedication.”

Jethro is a wonderful example of Standardbred nature. While he may not be the most talented, most athletic horse, he has a heart and brain that is priceless. Tori hopes to establish their canter eventually and has her sights setting on hitting the show jumping arena. After attending our clinic in Baldivis earlier this year, we are sure Jethro and Tori will have plenty of fun jumping together when the time comes!
