Tranquil Charlie | A Very Tranquil Charlie!

Tranquil Charlie is a 2014 standardbred gelding by Western Edition USA. “Charlie” had 27 starts on the track with owner, breeder and trainer, Simone Strachan. This handsome bay gelding retired in 2019 with two wins and nine career placings, earning $14,944 in lifetime stakes.

In 2019, after being on a year-long spell, Charlie was rehomed to Nicky Cresswell as a companion for her thoroughbred, Boneshaker, and a future riding prospect. Nicky allowed Charlie time to settle before beginning his saddle career.

Nicky describes Charlie as very easy to train and a quick-to-learn type of horse. He is keen to please and honest with his work, making him an absolute pleasure to be around and train.

“Charlie loves people and scratches! He is just so much fun!” Nicky said.

Charlie and Nicky recently acquired their first win in the show jumping arena. Together this pair are conquering fears and achieving goals. Charlie was the lead-pony at the water jump at a recent OTTWA clinic, leading other nervous and green horses despite his own water fears. Nicky was very proud of his ability to overcome his reservations. Together they plan to focus on developing Charlie’s canter in between fences as he has become quite the fan of his new jumping career.
