SPPHAWA Dual Code Spectacular + OTTWA Classic

As part of our partnership with the Standardbred Pleasure & Performance Horse Association of WA inc, Off the Track WA sponsor several events each year aiming to highlight and celebrate Standardbred and Thoroughbred horses.
The OTTWA Classic, hosted as part of the SPPHAWA Dual Code Spectacular, brings forth the best examples of both breeds. We were thrilled to be ringside on Sunday to witness the talent and calibre of the horses entered to compete.

In the Walk/Trot Standardbred Classic, a total of eight Standardbreds competed for the 2026 championship. With an exceptional lineup of quality horses, this class shone a light on the quality of Standardbred horses currently competing in show horse events.

This class was won by Rich American, an eight-year-old American Ideal USA gelding who retired in 2024.

The Open Standardbred class highlighted Standardbreds with the ability to canter. With seven entrants, this class was hotly contested with each horse delivering beautiful, soft workouts.

This class was won by Courage to Live, a twelve-year-old Courage Under Fire NZ gelding who retired in 2019.

The Thoroughbred Classic once again brought in big entrants with ten contestants. With returning champions and new participants, it was a class to be watched and appreciated, showcasing the trainability, talent and calibre of Thoroughbreds in show horse disciplines.

This class was won by Victime De L’amour, a twelve-year-old Al Maher gelding who retired in 2021.
