OTTWA Clinic Wrap-Up | Double Classic Clinics in June

On June 15, OTTWA in partnership with Equestrian WA, hosted a Classic Clinic at Magenup Equestrian Centre. We had 29 retired racehorses entered into this clinic, with lessons coached by Denise Barker, Wendy Cummings, and Linda Page.

The weather was beautiful, if not a bit brisk in the morning. We saw a great range of horses in attendance, with the first groundwork lesson full of newly retired racehorses. It was fantastic to see these fresh off the track horses gaining experience throughout their lessons. With nine recently retired racehorses entered into this clinic, it was a fantastic opportunity for those horses to transition into their off the track careers amongst their peers. We look forward to seeing these horses return to watch their progress.

Jessie Lloyd joined us to grab some fantastic shots of the day. The weather provided some great opportunities for Jess to snap some super photos. Don’t forget, OTTWA photos are only $10 each, and for those who can’t possibly choose… photo packages can be purchased for $120. Get in contact with Eric Lloyd Photography to arrange –

On June 16, we hosted another Classic Clinic at the State Equestrian Centre. Although the weather wasn’t as generous as the previous days’ clinic, it was still great to see many riders and horses progressing throughout their lessons. This clinic day had 27 registered entries, with four recent retirees, including Jevetson, who retired in 2024.

We received some great feedback and testimony from participants at these clinics, such as: “The coach we had was very helpful and made it so easy to achieve a good outcome.” as well as, “Just the best environment for green horses to start getting used to being out and about. Thank you!”

Our next clinic is June 29, hosted at State Equestrian Centre. Entries are now open on Nominate:
