North Lane | Off the Track Story
Safeguard gelding, North Lane retired from racing in 2022. After eight starts with Fred Kersley, ‘Norman’ was ready to begin his next career away from the track.
Norman now lives happily with Lacey Dodd, participating in adult rider’s groups, pleasure riding and jumping.
“I got lucky with Norman. He has the foundations and movement to be a lovely dressage prospect.”
Attracted to the versatility, trainability and experience of retraining a retired racehorse, Lacey was excited to begin her journey with Norman. It did not take long for the pair to build trust and start working towards their goals.
Lacey and Normal attend Magenup Adult Rider’s club each month and are excited to get out more to events in 2026. Working to develop Norman’s confidence over jumps, Lacey looks forward to introducing Norm to the eventing lifestyle.
“Norman has such a big personality. He’s most known for being the first horse to meet you in the paddock for a snuggle. His newest quirk is stealing dressage whips from my hand!”
Though stubborn in his training, Lacey is thrilled with the progress Norman has made in the two years they’ve been together. This was recently highlighted with a trophy for Most Improved at Magenup Adult Riders.
