Moet De Vega | Life As A Gentleman Off the Track

Ten-year-old, Moet De Vega, retired from racing in 2022. Trained by Sean and Jake Casey, Moet De Vega (by Lope De Vega) raced a total of twenty-one starts for three wins and two seconds. Throughout his career, Moet earned just over $72,000 (including bonuses).

Purchased straight off the track by Jodie Edwards, Moet was ready for his new career.

“It was love at first sight,” fondly recalled Jodie.

With the intention to turn him into a jack of all trades, Moet and Jodie began their off the track journey slowly but steadily.

“Moet gives it 110%. He’s great to ride and is a complete gentleman.”

With a great work ethic, Moet enjoys his off-the-track life alongside Jodie. Having competed in a variety of disciplines, Moet has accumulated many memories and awards throughout his career, including winning the Unofficial Horse of the Year in 2023 at Perth Horse and Pony Club. He also came second at his first ever Hunter Trial in Northam, jumping into the water jump without hesitation.

Jodie has high hopes for Moet, with goals to win their first dressage and ODE event along with one day reaching jumping at one metre heights. Whatever they do together, we are sure Moet and Jodie will be having fun.

This lovely big chestnut gelding is just one of many horses retired from racing and enjoying a new career off the track.

Off the Track WA thank Jodie for sharing Moet’s story with us!
