Garage Days | Big Gaz Thriving Off the Track

Racing under trainers such as Adam Durrant and Tom Wolfe, Garage Days accumulated thirty starts for four wins and 12 placings. This lovely seven-year-old gelding earned over $100k in lifetime earnings before injury ended his racing career. Rehomed to Cassie Easthope, Garage Days transitioned into his off-the-track career.

Luckily for Gary, Cassie has plenty of experience working with both racehorses and horses with injuries. This set Gary up well for his rehabilitation and transition off the track. After six months of rest and rehabilitation, Cassie had her first sit.

“When it came to getting on, he was perfect. Never put a hoof wrong and was super easy to train.”

Gary learns from every ride and is a quick learner, picking up exactly where he left off the last time. He’s a laidback kind of guy, with a beautiful temperament and nature.

“Whenever he see’s me coming down to the stables, he calls out and meets me at the gate. He loves attention and always aims to please.”

Together, Cassie and Gary have formed a clear partnership that is reflected in their work together. In April, Cassie and Gary won and placed second in their preliminary tests at Orange Grove’s ‘Dressage in the Grove’ event.

Gary is a lovely type of horse, with a bright future ahead of him. Cassie hopes to move him up to Novice level and continue onward. We are sure with their partnership and guidance from those around them, Cassie and Gary will have many more successes together throughout their blossoming dressage career.

Thank you to Cassie for sharing Gary’s story with us. It is great to see Gary has transitioned happily out of racing and into an off-the-track career.
