Friday Night Lights with Off the Track WA
Friday night at the State Equestrian Centre was a spectacle of beautiful retired racehorses competing at the Equestrian WA Horse and Rider of the Year competition.
With three off-the-track feature classes and Fashions on the Field, Off the Track WA were proud to offer sponsorship to this event run by the Equestrian WA Show Horse committee.
Hosting Standardbreds for the first time, this event saw several regular SPPHAWA competitors step out under the State Equestrian Centers sparkling lights.
It was wonderful to see these horses shown for the first time in the indoor arena in front of a crowd.
The first class saw three horses competing in the Walk/Trot Standardbred feature.
Stunning grey gelding, Folsom Prison stepped out against dark beauty, Iam Lambros NZ, and handsome bay, Playing the Fool to win the class.
This was one of many wins that Folsom Prison has claimed in his off the track career with owner/rider, Kristie Morrone.

In the open Standardbred feature, competition intensified as several stunning open standies stepped into the indoor arena to dazzle the judges.
Multi-Supreme and Champion award winner, Aspasia was among the line-up of super horses entered to compete.
It was Master Jaxon, however, who wowed the judges with his super stride and impressive paces to claim the win and Courage to Live who followed closely behind for Reserve Champion.
With a beautiful lineup of horses, this was a highlight of the night for all those involved in supporting and promoting retired Standardbreds.

Concluding the spectacle was the Thoroughbred feature class, full of beautiful horses dressed up and ready to show the judges just how spectacular they can be in their life away from racing.
There was an exciting array of seasoned competitors and newcomers entered into this class, with Forever Autumn, Zero Consequence and Majestic Pearl each stepping out for their first time in the indoor.
Seasoned competitors, Lascia Star, Manajito and Victime De L’amour were joined by eventers, Liber Archie and Degree of Luck, along with horses such as Amenaton, Fighting Harada and Coming Around to make up the class.
It was stunning mare, Lascia Star (Stella) who once again claimed the title of Champion Thoroughbred, wowing the judges with her floating paces and correct, rhythmical workout.
