Blackwater Bay | Beautiful B Set for the Grand Stage
Winner of over two hundred thousand dollars on the track, Blackwater Bay retired from racing in early 2024. Trained by Adam Durrant, Blackwater Bay won a total of six races and placed in eight others. After retirement, Blackwater Bay retired into the care of his beloved track rider, Gabriella Dercole.
“He was my favourite track ride. I wanted him to be mine forever.”
Affectionately known as ‘B’, Blackwater Bay enjoyed four months of rest before starting his off-the-track education. Gabriella describes ‘B’ as having a wonderful temperament, who takes everything in his stride.
“B is a true gentleman. He is so intelligent and a pleasure to own.”
Impressed by his beauty as a two-year-old, Gabriella knew Blackwater Bay would make a super show horse. The pair began their show horse career with handsome ‘B’ bringing home several champion and supreme awards at Busselton Agricultural show and Gosnells Summer Show Offs.
“Watching him transform from a racehorse to a show horse that I adore has been amazing.”
Gabriella has hopes to qualify Blackwater Bay for Grand Nationals and National in the eastern states, showcasing his beautiful looks and temperament to a broader audience. We look forward to following along with their journey and will be sure to cheer them on. Blackwater Bay and Gabriella recently competed at the SPPHAWA Dual Code Spectacular and OTT Classic, placing in the top five in the OTT Thoroughbred Classic.
Gabriella and Blackwater Bay are a prime examples of horses who have retired from racing into the care of someone who has worked with them during their career. These horses touch the hearts of those around them, and it is wonderful to see them transition into off the track careers with those who have worked with them from the beginning.
