Another Classic Success in Baldivis

Early July, Off the Track WA returned to Baldivis for another classic clinic designed to provide educational opportunities for retired racehorses.

With thirty-four entrants, this clinic offered groundwork, flatwork and jumping lessons.

Coached by Dianne Colley, Elizabeth Tollarzo and David Carey, this educational clinic allowed retired racehorse owners to access affordable and supportive learning opportunities alongside fellow Thoroughbred and Standardbred owners in the local area.

We were eager to see graduates, Babyface Adda and Touch of Success NZ attend this clinic as these two Standardbreds began their off-the-track journey through the OTTWA Retraining Program. It was wonderful to hear that they had enjoyed their lessons and are being good in their new careers.

It was great to have repeat attendees, with Tex on Legs, Eugenio, Roc Maschene and Cold Justice all returning after our previous Baldivis clinic in May.

We were also thrilled to see new faces such as Special Sort (who retired from racing in March 2025) enter into lessons with both David and Elizabeth.

Of the horses attending, Babyface Adda had the most successful racing career with over $255 thousand in lifetime earnings.

22 of the horses entered were bred here in Western Australia, with several horses also originating from New Zealand and New South Wales.

Standardbred trainer, Garry Elliott had two former racers in attendance, with Cullens Kid NZ and Art in Your Face enjoying their off the track careers.

Thoroughbred trainers, Adam Durrant, Chris Willis and Dan Morton also had multiple former racers attend this clinic, including Special Sort who recently retired from racing.

It was wonderful to be able to provide an opportunity for these horses to further their development into their off the track career. The Off the Track WA team thoroughly enjoy watching horses and riders enjoy their lessons and look forward to continuing to play a part in their journey.
