Success in Albany with Colin

Riders in Albany were treated with another clinic opportunity recently, coached by dressage coach, Colin Chantler. With a wealth of experience and knowledge, Colin ventured to Albany to provide flatwork lessons to local Albany riders, proudly sponsored by Off the Track WA.

Due to high demand, the clinic was extended over two days to allow for 17 lessons. From these lessons, ten retired racehorses received lessons under Colin’s guidance. These horses included Man Booker, winner of over one million dollars throughout his racing career, along with Nascent, Majestic Hunter, Regal Sun and Money for Ransome: all who raced for under ten starts.

Albany Pony Club’s committee were kind enough to provide us with insight into their busy weekend of lessons.

“The weather was not in our favour but we were lucky enough to be set up in the indoor arena at the Albany Equestrian Centre and continued with minimal disruptions across the weekend. Without your sponsorship, clinics like this wouldn’t be viable to run in regional areas. It was wonderful to see the improvement in the riders over the two days.”

The clinic hosted nine exclusive off-the-track lessons across the weekend, with an additional four lessons shared between off-the-track horses and other breeds. Each retired racehorse was given a 20% discount off their entry to support them participating in this clinic. We were thrilled to hear that the clinic was a success and hope everyone learned a lot from their lessons.

If you participated in this clinic, or any other regionally sponsored clinic throughout the state, we’d love to hear from riders about their experiences!
