The Spruiker | Off the Track Story
Racing his entire career under the guidance of Steve Wolfe, The Spruiker took his connections on quite the journey.
First trialing in April 2020, Spruikey showed great promise. With a third placing in his first race and then a win shortly after in his fifth start, The Spruiker was looking to be one to watch out for.
In his first season, he managed to pocket two wins. In his second season, he returned with a five-win streak. Every time he came back, he continued to get better.

Slowing down in his later years, The Spruiker retired in April of 2026 with 77 starts and nine wins. He earned his owners just under $850,000 on the track and himself a new career.
Now retired, Spruikey is looking to test out a new off-the-track lifestyle.
Elizabeth Scaffidi, daughter of share-owner Dr. John Vujcich, was thrilled to be given the opportunity to claim Spruikey as her own upon his retirement.
“I actually cannot believe my dream has come true and I have the fortune to call Spruikey mine!”

With plans to retrain The Spruiker into a new career, Lizz is keen to see what Spruikey will enjoy. Whether it’s dressage or eventing, it will depend on which discipline Spruikey takes an interest in first.
“Whatever we decide to do, the plan is simply to keep learning together and loving each other.”
Through the journey of getting to know The Spruiker and her father’s involvement in horse ownership, Lizz has also fallen in love with racing and actively helps Team Wolfe on Saturdays at Ascot.
“I love being around these amazing athletes and am learning so much from being in this captivating world!”
The Spruiker was recently claimed through the OTTWA Passport program, unlocking access to education clinics, sponsored event entries, exclusive off the track discounts and more! We are thrilled to be able to support retired racehorses like Spruikey as they transition into a new chapter.
“Spruikey really is something special, and most of all, he is loved by SO many! Here’s to his new chapter- he has already made my dreams come true!”

Thank you to Lizz for sharing The Spruiker’s story with us. We look forward to seeing where this next page in his journey will take him.
