Description:
Due to changes in my personal circumstances, my beautiful, kind-natured 6-year-old OTTB is now available for sale.
Buddy retired from racing in September 2024 and enjoyed a spell before undergoing re-education under saddle with his previous owner. He came to me in July 2025, and since then, we have returned to the fundamentals, focusing on groundwork, lunging, and correct reintroduction to work. He has been brilliant with the body worker, farrier and vet. He can get a little nervous in new environments, but once he settles down, he takes everything in stride. He has been exposed to farm animals, tractors, trucks, four-wheelers, dogs, and more.
Buddy has been ridden five times since arriving with me; however, he requires further strengthening and muscle development before commencing consistent under-saddle work. I am happy to discuss this in detail with any prospective buyer. I have not ridden Buddy myself and will not rehome him as “ready to ride.”
Buddy has undergone a comprehensive veterinary assessment, including scoping, and shows no signs of ulcers or kissing spine. He is a windsucker, which is well managed with a magic collar. Buddy has a historical tendon injury, which was treated successfully at The Animal Hospital (Murdoch) when still in training for racing. There are no other injuries or illnesses of note that I am aware of.
He is currently fed chaff with Johnson’s Weight Gain (cool feed) and EO-3 Oil. He was previously on Digestive RP/HP but is no longer receiving this supplement.
Buddy is kind, affectionate, and easy to handle on the ground. He enjoys attention and is good with other horses. He can be a little impatient in cross-ties in the wash bay. He will load and travel but requires further float training for straight-load floats; he is comfortable on an angle-load or truck.
Buddy is a very sweet horse who, through no fault of his own, is looking for his forever home. He is registered with EWA.
