Description:
I’ve only owned Slim for 6 months and feel guilty I’m moving him on, but sadly I think it’s what’s best for him. Unfortunately, I work fifo and I don’t think it’s working for Slim. He’s a young man that needs and deserves a special person that he can see every day, form a bond with and get a good bum scratch from!
Slim is currently paddocked with another gelding; he can be a little bossy with him but is generally pretty good. I have tried him with my mares and that didn’t go so well. To be fair to Slim, they’re not the friendliest and when he tried to dominate them, they took umbrage resulting in them letting him know with some flying hooves! His paddock neighbors are often mares and he’s always friendly over the fence, so I’m not 100% sure whose fault it really was.
Slim is unbroken but has done some groundwork, is happy to be tacked up and has been ridden for a very short time once. Unfortunately, since then, I’ve not had the time to continue his ridden education.
Slim has been to the beach which he enjoyed very much, even though he was a little wary of the waves, he got in, had a splash and was then eager to enjoy a good roll!!
When Slim came to me, he was easy to catch and happy to see me each day. However, over the last couple of months, he’s decided he’s not so keen to cooperate, and at times has me chasing him around the paddock like a lunatic!! I really believe that with consistent work, that will change again though, I think he’s just letting me know that he’s not pleased with my disappearing for a week at a time!
Slim is good to rug, worm, float and for the farrier. He had bodywork’s recently and had no issues. Hooves were trimmed a couple of days ago – he has great feet.
Slim’s a sweet horse, and I might be biased, but very handsome too. I really want to find him the best home where he can live forever as someone’s bestie.
